Experience an unforgettable 3-day off the beaten track tour in Uzbekistan, combining scenic hikes, local culture, and yurt camping in Uzbekistan’s Nuratau Mountains. Begin in Samarkand and travel to the village of Narvon for a welcoming homestay and a glimpse into rural life.

Enjoy a 13 km guided hike along the Nuratau ridge, offering panoramic views of valleys, the Kyzyl-Kum Desert, and Lake Aydarkul. Then relax at a peaceful yurt camp in Uzbekistan, featuring modern comforts in a scenic mountain setting. Continue exploring the trails the next morning before visiting historic Nurata, home to a sacred spring and ancient fortress, then head onward to Bukhara.

This hiking tour in Uzbekistan is perfect for travelers seeking nature, culture, and an off the beaten path experience.

Itenerary

Day 1 – Samarkand to Narvon Village  

* The tour can be started from Bukhara as well.

Meet your driver at 9:00 A.M. at your hotel and drive to Narvon village, arriving around lunchtime. Check into your local homestay, then spend the afternoon exploring the village on your own. Get acquainted with the villagers and observe their daily routines. You might also witness traditional carpet weaving and learn about how these handmade carpets are created. Later, you can join or watch your host family prepare a traditional Uzbek meal. Dinner and overnight at the homestay.

Please note: Today's village exploration is self-guided. The guided hiking begins the next day.

Day 2 – Narvon to Sayyod Yurt Camp
After breakfast, begin your guided hike across the mountains from Narvon village toward Sayyod Yurt Camp. On the way, visit Narvon Ota, a local pilgrimage spot near the hiking trail. At the summit, take in breathtaking views of the expansive Kyzyl-Kum desert, Lake Aydarkul, and the picturesque villages below. After arriving at Sayyod Yurt Camp, settle into your yurt. Spend your afternoon relaxing or choose optional activities like a cooking class. The camp provides internet, an outdoor pool, table tennis, archery, and a small telescope for stargazing. 
After dinner, relax around a warm campfire.

Day 3 – Sayyod to Bukhara via Nurata
In the morning, start an easy 3-hour (6 km) hike through the mountains, enjoying panoramic views of nearby villages and landscapes. Return to camp for lunch, then set off toward Bukhara. En route, stop at Nurata city to explore local sites including the ancient fortress attributed to Alexander the Great, the sacred spring, and other historical landmarks. Afterwards, continue your journey to Bukhara, arriving in the late afternoon.

Hiking distance: 6 km / 3 hours, elevation (+327 m, -328 m)
Travel distance: About 340 km / 5 hours (excluding stops)
